Countryside, The Future', the new exhibition by Dutch architects Rem Koolhaas and Samir Bantal started on 20 February 2020 in the Guggenheim Museum in New York. The exhibition wants to show us that the countryside will play an increasingly important role in the future. Can you imagine a greater contradiction than an exhibition about the countryside in a metropolis like New York? I don't think so, and yet it is! It's the first time the Guggenheim Museum has organised an exhibition that doesn't focus on art and it promises to attract a lot of curious people. Architects are masters of imagination. They can see out of nowhere, a future in a piece of land. That is why they see the countryside as the solution to global problems such as climate change, migration and energy.

“The countryside is now the site where the most radical, modern components of our civilization are taking place.” -Rem Koolhaas-

The exhibition normally runs until 14 August 2020. Because of COVID-19, this date will probably change.
