Amazing traditional, renovated and extended farmhouse, dating back more than 60 years, located on a hilltop estate and just a 5-minute walk from the authentic Andalusian town of Lubrin, in the province of Almeria. It is a truly unique property in a unique location, a two-minute drive from the main road but protected from traffic noise.

The magnificent main entrance provides the backdrop to a large paved zone, historically employed as a threshing circle, and provides convenient parking for multiple cars. From inside the main entrance there is a paved access to the upper level of the Cortijo where there is a pool and an pergola with dining facilities. On a clear day, the view to the east includes the Mediterranean, about 12 miles away.

The upper floor of the Cortijo has been converted into a 2-bedroom apartment, with a bathroom and shower, rustic kitchen and a large living room. Outside, from the porch there are steps, left and right, leading to two separate 1-bedroom apartments on the ground floor "Rambla" & "Castallico". These apartments consist of spacious double rooms, living rooms, kitchens and family bathrooms.

Outside, each apartment has 2 terraces, one facing east to receive the sun while drinking a cup of coffee and the other facing west to toast the last rays of the sun while enjoying a glass of wine. The Cortijo has central heating, Juliet balconies and shuttered windows, there are also wood stoves and ceiling fans, and there is a community utility room and boiler room.

At the opposite end of the ground floor garden is a separate 1-bedroom farmhouse converted from an agricultural unit "Musica". The living room is open plan with a wood stove. There is a separate shower and toilet leading to the double bedroom with a sink, ceiling fan and electric heating. Outside it has open and covered terraces with views of the Mediterranean.

On the lower terrace of the estate there is a separate 2-bedroom cottage "Rincon" that was converted from a warehouse and has a covered porch to the front and a walled courtyard to the rear. There is a very large open plan living room and kitchen. There are two double bedrooms and there is a spacious family bathroom.

On the same terrace is a separate 1-bedroom farmhouse "Caballo" converted from stables. The living room is open plan with kitchen and wood stove. There is a double room with a ceiling fan and electric heating. The landscaping is made up of pea gravel lawns lined with grape and oleander vines, and there is an abundance of almond, olive, and pomegranate trees.

Holiday rental set of 2 farm apartments and 3 separate cottages and includes 2 bedroom farm apartment, currently owner occupied. Rental license for 6 tourist apartments

The success of the vacation rentals is the magical combination of the peace and tranquility of the Cortijo and yet only a 5 minute walk from the village with facilities to meet all the needs of tourists. Unlike the coast, tapas bars are open year-round. Thanks to the winter sun, self-guided hiking and mountain biking in the adjacent foothills of the Sierra de los Filabres, provides a year-round income.

Despite its rural location, the local road network provides quick and easy access through the Mediterranean and the coastal towns and villages of the Costa de Almeria. The airports of Almería, Alicante and Murcia provide access for international travelers.

Cortijo Fuente Arriba is conveniently located to explore Almería with its diverse and dramatic landscapes, isolated towns and romantic beaches and coves. The Cabo de Gata National Maritime and Terrestrial Park is simply breathtaking and many guests take the day trip to Granada to marvel at the wonderful Alhambra, or a local visit to our own Arab Fortress Alcazaba in the city of Almería.

About Lubrin

About 75 kilometers from Almería, we find the town of Lubrín or (Lebrilla), a name used in the past.

Located at the eastern end of the Sierra de los Filabres, we find this town with Moorish architecture; whitewashed houses, narrow alleys, small squares, smells of jasmine and bougainvillea painting the walls of the houses.

Lubrín has a chaotic architecture, being settled between several hills and opening to the fertile Lubrín valley; reason of being of this small town for several centuries where you can see the terraces terraced with almond trees. Take advantage of February and March to enjoy the flowered valley, a spectacle.

Willing to walk through its alleys, we simply must walk aimlessly to feel and remember its history. Inhabited by Muslims until 1309, when it was reconquered by the Bishop of Cartagena.

We can get lost in its sloping streets full of geraniums at the doors of the houses, a quiet environment that can be perfectly felt in any town in the Alpujarras. Finally, its history parallels them.

It participated in the uprising of the alpujarras of the 16th century and like the rest of the towns, once the uprising was controlled, it meant the exile of the Moors with the consequent depopulation of the area. Later, in order to repopulate the town, 30 families from Galicia, Extremadura, Murcia and Jaén settled in this area thanks to the benefits promulgated by Felipe II.

Currently a land of emigrants like all the small towns in our geography, it continues to maintain agriculture and quarries as the epicenter of its economy.

If you have to choose a date to visit it, there is no doubt! That is January 20 for the “bread festival” in honor of San Sebastián. Festival declared of tourist interest where donuts are thrown from the balconies to the saint in procession.

It is believed that this tradition may come from the times when the great plague epidemics raged among its population and the wealthiest people threw food and money from the balconies at the poor so as not to come into contact with them; so do not hesitate and get a good string of donuts.
